CATHOLIC FEAST DAY
(TLM at 7PM: San Secondo d’Asti)
Why we celebrate
We celebrate Saints Peter and Paul because they are the two great “pillars” of the Church—chosen by God to help establish and spread the Gospel throughout the world.
St. Peter was chosen by Christ to be the rock of the Church, entrusted with the keys of Heaven and the role of shepherding God’s people as the first Pope. He represents unity, authority, and pastoral care.
St. Paul, once a persecutor of Christians, experienced a radical conversion and became the Church’s greatest missionary and evangelist. He represents repentance, zeal, and the mission to bring the Gospel to all nations.
Together, they show that the Church is built on both stability and mission—Peter grounding the Church in truth, and Paul carrying that truth to the ends of the earth.
Their martyrdom in Rome also reminds us that the foundation of the Church is rooted in sacrifice and total love for Christ.
Since when
This feast has been celebrated in Rome since the early centuries of Christianity (at least by the 4th century) because both apostles were martyred there and considered foundational to the Church’s identity.
How we can celebrate

Read Acts 9, 13–28 (conversion and missions of St. Paul)
