Why we celebrate
We honor Mary’s pure, loving heart fully united to God’s will, and her maternal love for the Church.
Since when
The devotion developed over centuries, especially through St. John Eudes in the 1600s. It became a universal feast in 1944 under Pope Pius XII.
How to celebrate
Attend Mass
Pray the Rosary (especially the Joyful Mysteries)
Consecrate yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Practice humility, purity of intention, and obedience to God
Offer small sacrifices in love for Mary’s intentions
Mary’s heart shows us what it looks like to:
love God without division or hesitation
trust Him completely, even in suffering
treasure and reflect on the mysteries of Christ in silence
remain faithful at every moment, especially at the foot of the Cross
Her heart is also deeply maternal. As Mother of Christ and Mother of the Church, she loves every member of the Body of Christ with a real, personal care. When we honor her Immaculate Heart, we are not only admiring her holiness—we are recognizing her ongoing role as a spiritual mother who leads us closer to Jesus.
