Why Do We Celebrate?
We celebrate St. Pier Giorgio Frassati because he reminds us that sainthood isn't just for priests, religious, or people who lived centuries ago, it is a call for everyone. His life is a beautiful example of what it means to love God, serve others, and live with joy in the ordinary moments of life.
His famous motto, "Verso l'Alto" ("To the Heights"), encourages us to always keep our eyes on Christ and strive for holiness each day.
Since When?
Pier Giorgio died on July 4, 1925, at just 24 years old. He was beatified in 1990 by Pope John Paul II, who called him the "Man of the Eight Beatitudes." In 2025, he was canonized, and the Church now celebrates his feast day on July 4.
